Jai Soloy is a woodturner who specializes in making beautiful pieces out of solid wood that are as functional as they are beautiful. Whenever possible, his pieces are made from local trees such as Eastern Maple and Apple wood. This wood, aside from being ecologically friendly, is full of unique character which it is his joy to highlight.
Lauren Soloy is a certified furniture designer and builder who graduated from the renowned furniture program of Camosun College. She loves all different kinds of furniture, but takes special joy in building out of character wood, often incorporating live edges and knot-holes into pieces. Recently she has begun incorporating marquetry (images made of solid wood) into her pieces as well, which allows her to put her Visual Arts Degree to good use.
Jai and Lauren Soloy live in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia on the Eastern Shores of Canada. When not working in their shop, they can most often be found working on renovations to their 130-year-old heritage house.
